Case STUDY

Picture
I love those projects that magically appear and then turn into life-long relationships. This is that project!

I hired Jacquie to create wooden medallions from a design I made for one of my clients (unrelated to the Be Safe Bandana). We met over coffee to talk about the medallion project. During that time, she shared with me the Be Safe Bandana project. I loved the idea. I also support the mission of Sustain Tahoe. It seemed like a perfect fit for some volunteer Instagram posts. And from there, the project grew.

Evolution of the Hang Tag
Jacquie sent images of herself with showcasing the Be Safe Bandana. The idea was to create a simple post to be shared across social media to bring awareness to the Be Safe Bandana and increase sales.

Using Canva, I created a simple IG graphic. Most of the design elements were Canva templates that I modified for color. I wanted the mask to take center stage, rather than the design but I didn't want it to be boring.

The project began as a series of sketches using Adobe Draw on an iPad mini.

Client feedback was that the girl did not appear "happy". I also felt that the hair was be distracting once a pattern was added to the Be Safe Bandana.
The Final Product Tag

For the final, the hair was simplified, the lips were turned up to create a smile, and a male counterpart was created. The importance of adding a male figure was to show that the Be Safe Bandana is for both men and women. A pattern was added and the different uses were illustrated. Appropriate text was added to the inside. Jacquie created a wooden medallion for the product tag and, ultimately, a Lake Tahoe shaped wooden button was added to the Be Safe Bandana itself.

The final project was created using Adobe Illustrator.

The pink peace background is just one of many designs of the Be Safe Bandana available through Sustain Tahoe. All of the proceeds benefit Sustain Tahoe with a focus on environmentally-minded tourism.
